Malhotra has been accused of targeting academics and scholars critical of Hindu supremacist groups and issuing divisive statements. Malhotra’s foundation gives grants to researchers and universities to promote the Hindu nationalist ideology espoused by the RSS in academic spaces. Recently, he published a book, dehumanizing the critics of India’s ruling BJP and the ideology of Hindutva by referring to them as snakes.
